Renew Your Mind, Live Your Purpose

Lasting transformation begins with our mindset. Once we do the work to experience a new way of thinking and believing, we are then able to truly take ownership of our lives. When we align our daily actions with our core values, we can step into a life of continuous growth and live our purpose, resulting in ultimate fulfillment.

What it Means to Live from the Inside-Out

I believe with all my heart everything happens for a reason—and when the student is ready, the teacher appears.

My life had been taken over by total chaos two years after leaving corporate America to start my own consulting business. Just the thought of dealing with one more problem was more than I could handle.

My mother had passed away after a lengthy illness and I became the primary caregiver for my aging father, bringing him to live with me and my family.

I experienced a back injury and underwent major back surgery in the midst of moving my family into a new home.

I discovered my 19-year-old son was battling a serious drug addiction.

I was the victim of a drunk driver incident, in which he ran into my van and passed away as a result, followed by being sued by his family (even though I was completely innocent).

My professional world fell apart, as an ‘out of sync’ business relationship turned from strong friendship to ugly separation. Total chaos.

What had I done to deserve this? I couldn’t understand why all of these bad things were happening to me. I wanted to lie down in bed, pull the covers over my head and say, “I’m done, I just can’t take anymore.” I thought about running away, finding some place where I could be all by myself and wallow in my misery.

Instead, I found a training program called Adventures in Attitudes I had purchased several months prior, that had been on my shelf collecting dust. What caused me to pick it up at that time is a mystery, but I was ready.

I began reading about personal empowerment. I’d been teaching ‘empowerment’ in corporate America for years, but this was different. This was about overcoming adversity; making choices; being inner-directed versus outer-directed; dealing with emotions; transforming negative energy into positive; living life from a place of faith, hope and love versus fear, doubt and hate.

It described the power of affirmations on the mind—I Am, I Can, I Will—and one of the key messages resonated with me, “I can’t help the way I feel but I CAN help the way I think and the way I act.” I read about the ability of human beings to alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind, that the definition of humility is the realization of the importance of others, and that to the degree you give others what they need, they will give you what you need. It described ‘being whole’ as a state of awareness, of understanding and accepting who you are, and that being ‘empowered’ is to be in control of your mind, emotions and behavior.

I went through a process of self-exploration and self-discovery. Little did I know that journey would impact me for the rest of my life—or that taking others on that journey would become a core part of my business!

I knew this was something I had to do for myself, as well as my current and future clients. It was a process that literally guided people to make choices about how to live life intentionally, in spite of the adversity and negativity all around them—and the world needed this now more than ever!

I facilitated my first workshop six months later and learned more about myself in those three days than I had in the previous ten years! The lessons learned have become a core part of my life. I use my affirmations daily to help me overcome the negativity that creeps into my mind every once in a while and to create the reality I want in my life. Although my problems didn’t go away, they became much easier to deal with.

I’ve learned that I really am in control of my own destiny, that I have been given gifts and talents, and that I have the ability to make choices every day regarding how I use them. I’ve learned that not making a choice is STILL making a choice and that I had been making subconscious decisions to blame someone or something else for what did or didn’t happen in my life. I’ve developed skills and attitudes that keep me from becoming a victim of circumstance again, giving me the ability to take personal responsibility for the consequences of my decisions.

I have experienced firsthand, the tremendous power my thoughts have on my business success and in every aspect of my life. If I think I can’t, I’m right! These principles are at the core of how I help other high-achieving, professional women connect to their passions, reduce stress and improve their overall wellbeing, so they, too, can create lives of purpose, live intentionally and realize their full potential.
